Self Reflection

1. Maybe a "P". My senior project is going pretty well except for the fact that I need to focus more on electronic components. Knowing the different types of electronic components is necessary when you are an electronic engineering.
2. I have done really well on my service learning, because i already have 50 hours done and am now working on my 30 hours for my independent component.
3.I would like to improve on memorizing different electronic components. By memorizing the different electronic components I will be able to do my science fair project and presentation with more ease.

Science Fair Proposal

1. If it is cold then the battery efficiency of an rc car will be reduced.
2. Dependent = temperature
Independent = the results of the battery efficency test.
3. The connection between my science fair project and eq is that being an electronic engineer requires you to test your product before actually using it in a full scale simulation. One way in being a successful engineer is making sure your product functions the way it is suppose to.
4. I will run the rc car on a 15 foot track outside and time how long it takes the rc car to complete it. I will perform this race 5 times ensuring the battery is at room temperature. I will thenrepeat this procedure for 10 different temperatures (hot and cold), graph the data, and determine whether efficiency is significantly increased by the change in the battery's temperature. From there, I will do research (using my physics textbook and online resources) to figure out why I obtained certain results.

What I've Learned So Far

1) I have learned how to test GPS products and how to wire them. I have also learned that technology will not always work 100% all the time and that is what a lot of people think.

3) The research that helped me learn this is my service learning. One of the employees at Star Sensor Technology, Alberto, taught me how to test the GPS products and how to wire them.

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

1. I plan on doing 30 additional hours of my service learning for my first independent component.

2. My plan will meet those 30 hours by going to my uncle's company Mon-Wed. for 2 hours each day. I should be able to complete those hours by the end of December along with my 50 service learning hours.

3. My independent component relates to my EQ because I will be getting hands on experience on working with electronic equipment. In return my time there may help me answer my EQ by discovering what it takes to be a successful electronic engineer.

Defining the Essential Question

1. My EQ is "What is most important to being a successful electronic engineer?"
2.By successful I mean that you are proficient at your job and have all the knowledge needed.
3. Internship, Knowledge, Education, and Patience.
4. My most important source right now is my uncle. My uncle Tony, has a bachelor's degree in the field of eletronic engineering. My uncle also is part owner of Star Sensor Technology, which is a comapny specializing in GPS tracking devices. Right now I am learning the ropes of how the company is run and what it takes to work there. During my time there I have learned how to solder, test the GPS devices, and a little bit about how the GPS units function.

Second Interview Questions

1. Are there any requirements to work at Star Sensor Technology? Like age, experience, knowledge etc.?
2. How long has Star Sensor Tech. been operational? Any problems along the way?
3. What kind of customer do you get? and why?
4. What does this company specialize in? Do you do anything else besides that?
5. Is your company working on any new projects? If so what?

Presentation Reflection

My first interview really didn't affect my presentation. My presentation ws soley about my service learning and I knew before my first interview where I was going to do my service learning.

I would have to say my visuals stood out during my whole presentation. I think my visuals helped everyone understand a little more about what I was talking about and that my visuals actually went along with what I was presenting on.

The most challenging to do was check for understanding. I wanted to make sure the audience's questions got answered but I was not able to do it because of the time limit.

Senior Project Presentation 1

My objective for this presentation is to get my fellow classmates to hear about my interview, tell them what electronic engineering is and to let them know about a future plan of mine and how I'm going to build it. My future plan is to create a little project like a buggie or a heart monitor. In the begining of my presentation.

In the beigining of my presentation I will ask 3 random people in the class "what do you think electronic engineering is?". I will then discuss what the job of an electronic engineer is. Afterwards, I will summarize the interview I had and then discuss my future building project .

I am going to make sure the audience is understanding what I am teaching by giving them examples, like for example the cell phone you use was designed and created by an electronic engineer. I will also have the interview I did as reference. I plan on having some pictures of my little building project to show the class what I might build. At the end of my presentation I will ask if anyone has any questions they might have about what I talked about.

For my presentation I will need my interview sheet, pictures of gadgets created by electronic engineers, and picture of my building project. I plan on putting the pictures on separate poster boards so they each have their own space, like gadgets on one board and the pictures of the building project on the other.

Interview Check

I am interviewing my uncle because he is an electronic engineer and owns his own company. He is successful at what he is doing and I think he would be the perfect canidate to interview. In addition to the other questions I willl be asking him, I will ask him about what kind of struggles he had to go through to be where he is at today.I will also be asking him what he plans to do in the future with his company and ask about what kind of different equipment he makes.

Senior Project

My topic is electronic engineering. I chose this topic because I've always loved creating things and thought it would be something I could even get paid for. I also chose this topic because my uncle is an electronic engineer and is very successful at it. I hope to accomplish a basic understanding of what I would be doing if I choose this as my career. I would like to know if I worked for a comapny of any sort what they would have me do and the different tasks I would have to accomplish like working on a new product or upgrading an old product. I would also like to learn the building blocks for electronic engineers like basic wiring of a component of some sort of program.
